Looking back at the YGP Learning and Networking Lab in Oxford, August 2022:
52 young talents from the YGP Global Talent Network – from all corners of the world – travelled to Oxford University, UK, to examine global challenges through meaningful interactions with leaders from business, academia and global institutions. Furthermore, more than 30 additional talents from the network participated actively online.

The Oxford event took place over 5 days, and also included a 2-day Hack with UNLEASH, where the participants were given a chance to collaborate in-person and come up with new, innovative ideas to address climate challenges (SDG 13), whilst developing skills in intercultural understanding, responsible leadership, and innovation.

The young talents in YGP’s network have been handpicked among thousands of candidates, and one of the main missions of YGP has been to ignite their understanding of the positive impact they themselves can have on the world. In that way, the YGP organization has continuously sought to inspire responsible and conscious future leaders, ready and willing to take on the social, environmental, and economic challenges of tomorrow.

Looking back at the YGP Learning and Networking Lab in Oxford, August 2022: The last day, YGP had the great honor of hosting a workshop with Professor Subi Rangan from INSEAD Business School before lunch, and welcoming Professor Morten Kringelbach from Oxford University in the afternoon. Both professors had great insights relevant to the YGP mission of igniting aspirations as well as building character in future leaders. One takeaway was how our education systems focus almost entirely on building competence and very little on building personalities and characters. Another takeaway was a scientific insight into the Good Life with music, nature, food and other pleasures as well as helping with regard to mental health.

The two professors were our last speakers and ended the academic part of the YGP Learning and Networking Lab in Oxford. Thereafter, the 52 young talents from all over the world enjoyed a real Oxford experience with Punting and a farewell party in the evening. Our 30 online members could not take part in the Punting, but they were active and valuable participants of all the learning experiences during the last 5 days.

Looking back at the YGP Learning and Networking Lab in Oxford, August 2022: Incredible learning, innovation and fun with UNLEASH at the Oxford Hack ! Talents of the YGP Global Talent Network participated in two days of innovation & collaboration to further equip them in their responsible leadership journey. From problem framing to pitching, the diverse group of participants learned and applied different tools for tackling specific climate action challenges (SDG 13).

Besides expanding their innovation toolkit, the young talents also learned more about intercultural collaboration. As one team of participants expressed: “It was touching how people from so many different countries were able to come up with such unique ideas for such specific regions and bring so much passion.”

Young Global Pioneers have developed a Global Talent Network of 112 amazing members from 28 countries all around the world! The network has been established on the strong foundations of intercultural understanding, youth leadership and international collaboration.

During the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, many of our YGP members continue to connect online, like this great group picture from our 2019 alumni who checked in with each other and shared their experiences. Later this month, all alumni groups in the YGP Global Talent Network will engage in their quarterly online seminar; this time to examine COVID-19. Based on materials from the World Economic Forum, the United Nations and their own local experiences, ideas and inspiration will be exchanged across the entire network.

We hope that everyone in our global community is not too personally affected by the ongoing coronavirus situation but we are optimistic that the talented, young and ambitious future leaders around the world are up to the challenges ahead!

With the newest members of the YGP Global Talent Network all on their way home, we look back at the transformative learning experiences of the last 3 weeks #YGP2019

An enormous thank you to our amazing partner organizations for all their support in turning our dream – of igniting aspiration in tomorrow’s leaders – into a reality. As the participants head home today, the 2019 YGP Learning Journey has officially come to an end but it is only the beginning for the newest members of our growing Global Talent Network.

Today the participant’s pitched social projects that they have worked on in groups throughout the Learning Journey. The projects covered a diverse range of issues all aiming to address one or many of the SDGs. The projects included: a social food company that would reduce food waste; inexpensive microfilters that would provide better quality water to households; high school education for those who were forced to exit the traditional schooling system; an app driven rental community that would reduce overconsumption and; a project that utilised biogas technology to bring sustainable energy to remote communities.
